The Gaming Teaching and Research Centre of Macao Polytechnic Institute offers degrees in Gaming and Recreation Management, carries out academic research in gaming and recreation, and provides casino management courses, with the mission of nurturing high-quality gaming management professionals and contributing to the development of Macao.

The Centre launched the first bachelor’s degree programme in 2010/2011, which was originally named as the Bachelor of Social Science in Gaming and Recreation Management,then renamed as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Gaming and Recreation Management in 2016/2017. The Programme provides students with a variety of topics in general business administration covering financial management, marketing, organisational behaviour, and business law, as well as specialised courses in the specific knowledge and skills of gaming-management, such as the strategic management of gaming enterprises, recreation management, gaming technologies, and gaming laws. The programme features flex-mod scheduling with parallel sessions of morning and evening classes in order to cater to individualised student needs.

The Centre strives to provide advisory services to the Macao S.A.R. Government and local community as well as to promote regional academic research in the field of gaming and recreation studies by carrying out quality academic research on gaming and recreation related topics. In addition, the Centre comprises four joint academic units; the MPI-Sun Yat-sen University Centre for Gaming Studies, the MPI-Sun Yat-sen University Postdoctoral Centre for Innovation and Application, the MPI-BMM Testing Centre for Gaming Devices, and the MPI-SUZOHAPP Gaming Technology Laboratory. Together, these strengthen research and teaching excellence at the Centre and advance scholarly communication in the field.
