    Objectives

    MBA programme mission:

    • To cultivate students to be corporate leaders and management professionals in various business-related areas, making contributions to the development of Macao and neighbouring regions, especially the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay area;
    • To equip students with professional knowledge and skills required for business management, as well as a global vision, and the perspective of social responsibility.

    MBA programme objectives:

    1. To strengthen students’ in-depth study of theories and cutting-edge knowledge in business management;
    2. To cultivate students’ ability to critically review management dilemmas and systematically and creatively apply management knowledge and skills to solving complex problems, effectively improving business management practices;
    3. To improve students’ scientific, analytical and interpretive skills in complex management issues, as well as comprehensive transferable skills in critical evaluation and putting theory into practice;
    4. To enhance students’ management and leadership skills in order to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in organizations in a complex and frequently changing business environment;
    5. To enhance students’ life-long learning skills, enabling them to carry out continuous learning of new knowledge, new tools and new methods; improve students' ability to solve new and complex problems in management, and lay a good foundation for their personal development;
    6. To strengthen students’ self-reflection ability on management theories, practical applications, values and ethics, and make contributions to business and social development.

    Focusing on strategic decisions and measures that affect the performance and survival of gaming companies, this module aims to develop students' ability to integrate strategic management, organizational change and leadership for strategic analysis and decision making. This module will focus on important theories, tools and methods related to strategic management. It also combines in-depth analysis of relevant cases of corporate strategic management which strengthens students' theoretical comprehension and practical application ability in the process of strategic analysis and formulation. To achieve this goal, students will participate in an interactive strategic management learning process individually or in groups.

    This module aims to inspire students' comprehensive understanding of the business environment. It enables students to understand and master the basic principles and methods of marketing, as well as to apply marketing strategies and techniques in solving problems in gaming companies. Through the use of marketing management concepts, theories and methods, students are able to comprehensively analyze the rapidly changing gaming entertainment environment and improve their ability to integrate, expand, innovate and analyze problems and solve problems.

    On the basis of introducing the principles and functions of human resource management, this module trains students to use relevant theories to judge, identify and analyze the organization and human resource management issues of the enterprise, as well as to make innovative integration, planning and application capabilities in combination with the actual situation. In this module, students will learn how to integrate and develop an effective human resources system by coordinating the development goals and planning of the company. They will also learn how to combine human resources analysis and management and design and plan high-level systems to assist enterprises to achieve talent development goals, exert competitive advantages and enhance corporate performance.

    This module is designed to provide the knowledge and skills essential for senior financial managers in the investment, financing and dividend policies. The content first introduces the role and purpose of financial management function within the enterprise and discusses three key financial management decisions of investment, financing and dividend policies in the current economic environment. It then explores the management of working capital and evaluation of long-term investments. It will also discuss various internal and external sources of funds, capital costs and influencing factors (which are involved in corporate financing decisions), enterprise evaluation and risk management.

    This module aims to develop students' ability to integrate the entire curriculum and explore the research potentials. This module consists of two parts: thesis writing and the oral defence. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the students will select research topics relating to related to general business management or recreation management and use appropriate research methods for data collection and analysis to complete their thesis writing. The credits are gained after passing the thesis review and oral defence.

    The purpose of this course is to explore the major elements and the basic frameworks of leadership and ethics with emphasis on the linkages between the two. Considers several cases where leaders faced significant ethical challenges. Students will be expected to write and discuss thoughtful analyses of these cases using the frameworks discussed in class.

    Tourism, Leisure and MICE Management

    Event management for travel, leisure and exhibition is a dynamic, complex and growing industry. Global growth in this diverse field has stimulated the demand for skilled event managers. This subject is designed to guide the students in absorbing knowledge for use in event management by focusing on tourism, leisure and MICE event management and emphasizing the complex role of the event manager as facilitator.

    This module introduces theories of service science and management based on modern information technology and service experience, and emphasizes the scientific approach to modern service management, and combines successful service management cases to enable students to master how to successfully apply service management theories to actual business operations.

    This module introduces the legal knowledge of business operations and aims to prepare students to fully consider the relevant legal factors and their impact on business when engaging in business activities or making business decisions. The content of the module includes business legal knowledge and theory, corporate law, contract law, taxation, labour relations law, securities law, and intellectual property rights. The module also adopts a comparative approach to study the main similarities and differences between the legal environment of Macao and its neighbours, and to prepare students to analyze and master the business laws of local and other jurisdictions.

    Business Analysis and Research Methodology

    This module is designed to help students acquire scientific research methods as tools for understanding and problem solving. It equips students with relevant knowledge and skills for independent research in the area of business management. Following the basic paradigm of management research, this module focuses on the basic steps and core elements of research in business management. It systematically introduces the relevant knowledge and skills involved in a series of research processes such as the choice of research questions, critical review of research literature, research design (quality or quantification) identification, data collection and analysis. It provides students with a comprehensive management research methodology and assists them in completing their master's graduation project.

    This module is designed to develop the ability of risk management of corporate management personnel. The content begins with the analysis of various risks that gaming companies may face in the current environment under the corporate governance objectives. It explores the countermeasures and evaluates various proposals and the regulation of relevant laws.

    Based on microeconomic theories, this module enables students to efficiently allocate scarce resources from the perspective of cost and efficiency by using various measures and tools of decision science. Students will be able to formulate and implement daily management decisions to achieve corporate goals and to effectively manage all stakeholders in the enterprise.

    Remarks:

    *In order to fulfill the graduation requirements, students must complete 30 credits, including 21 credits of compulsory modules from Table I, 9 credits of electives modules from Table II, and 6 credits of Project report.
